General information about the perfumes label from Rochas

Marcel Rochas was one of the most talented and successful designers of his age. In the 1920's, with French haute couture at its zenith, he created feminine designs for Hollywood stars like Joan Crawford, Jean Harlow, and Carole Lombard. The house of Rochas became hugely successful after the launch of "FEMME", the eau de toilette that was packaged in a pink box with black lace dedicated to Marcel's wife Helene.

After, Marcel's death, Helene kept her husband’s creative inspiration alive, became the first female CEO in France, and during that time the launch of "MADAME ROCHAS" was created. It was an instant success and it was described as the elegant and sophisticated scent which is the luxury of a woman.

The company changed hands several times during the late 20th century. Helene Rochas even returned as a consultant from 1984 to 1989. Proctor and Gamble acquired the company in 2003, and re-launched the fashion division, under the direction of Olivier Theyskens from 2003 to 2006. A two-year hiatus followed, with the fashion company launching yet again in 2008 under its current creative director, Marco Zanini.

Fragrances remain the most important product of the Rochas brand, and Rochas has employed its own in-house perfumer, Jean-Michel Duriez, since 2008.
