Maria "Nina" Ricci founded the Nina Ricci fashion house with her son Robert in Paris in 1932. Ricci knew with a woman's instinct how to enhance each client's personality with extraordinary designs combining classicism, femininity, simplicity, and sophistication.
Robert encouraged his mother’s exploration into perfumery with the Ricci house’s first perfume, Nina, followed by Premier Jour and the Les Belles line. In 1948, L'air Du Temps became one of its most successful brands, featuring the famed two-dove bottle designed with Marc Lalique.
Other legendary scents like Coeur Joie, Capricci and Farouche established Nina Ricci as “a household name of international fragrances.” Madame Ricci died on November 30, 1970, at the age of 87. After Nina Ricci's death, the perfume business continued to expand. The company prospered and new designers were taken on board. New fragrances were introduced, although L'Air du Temps continues to be largely responsible for the Nina Ricci reputation.Today Nina Ricci is owned by the Puig Group.
