Elizabeth Arden, founded in 1910 on Fifth Avenue in New York City, is one of the most recognized names in beauty and is founded by Florence Nightingale Graham, a Canadian businesswoman who credited with introducing modern eye makeup to North America and in many ways brought the whole idea of salons and makeovers. Elizabeth Arden brand is worldwide known for quality, product innovation, glamour, and its iconic Red Door. Today the company is owned by Fabergé after being sold to Eli Lilly and Company in 1971 for $38 million.
In terms of fragrances, the company’s primary focus up until the late 80's was on makeup and skin care products having released only one perfume, Blue Grass. However, the release of Eau Fraiche in 1986 and the ever-popular signature fragrance Red Door in 1989 marked the beginning of a new era. Elizabeth Arden has continued to release perfumes both under the Arden brand as well as licensed fragrances sold under various celebrity names such as Britney Spears, Hilary Duff, Mariah Carey and Elizabeth Taylor. Today Elizabeth Arden’s perfume range includes Beauty, Splendor, Pretty, Fifth Avenue, Provocative Woman eau de toilette, Sunflowers and Blue Grass.
