General information about the perfumes label from Lancome
Lancôome was founded in 1935 by perfumer-businessman Armand Petitjean and was firstly introduced in France as a luxury cosmetics line. Armand Petitjean originally became inspired to create fragrances by the wild roses he saw surrounding Le Chateau de Lancosme, an old castle in the rural French countryside and a single golden rose eventually became the company's renowned symbol, from which the company took its name. Armand Petitjean, wanted the company to stand out as a way to provide the ideals and quality of French beauty throughout the world.
When the Lancôme line first premiered at the World's Fair in Brussels, its focus was on fragrance and the first five perfumes (fragrances) were launched, allegedly representing five continents of the world: Bocages, Conquete, Kypre, Tendre Nuit and Tropiques.. Over the years, the line has expanded to include high quality makeup and skin care. Lancôme was the first in the cosmetics industry to introduce lip gloss in a tube -- Juicy Tubes, from the "Pollen" collection. Some of their best-selling skin care products include the "Genifique" youth activating line and "Regenerie" lift volumetry line.
In 1964, Lancôme was acquired by another cosmetics giant, the L'Orèal Group and during that period many of their classic and best-loved fragrances were produced, including Climat, Tresor and Magie Noire.
Lancôme is still best known for their high-end, sumptuous fragrances, which include such favorites as the "Miracle" and "Hypnose" lines, as well as their men's collection, which includes opulent and exhilarating scents such as "Miracle l'Aquatonic" and "Trophee.” Today, the company maintains a high profile through its ad campaigns captured by leading fashion photographers and featuring celebrities and top models including Isabella Rossellini, Kate Winslet, Drew Barrymore, Carol Alt, Uma Thurman, Juliette Binoche and Anne Hathaway.
